UPS delivered my very expensive package somewhere, had it signed for by some complete stranger named Maurice, is failing to upload documents supporting my claim online and won't give me a claim number so i can try again

shrimpsisbugs

i called UPS customer support and their bot refused to connect me to a live agent

so i called UPS tech support and they told me that i can't upload documentation or receive updates on the claim because they'll only communicate with the sender, so i should go talk to the sender

i get an error message when i try to contact the seller (bought off Facebook Marketplace)

facebook won't let me submit a claim because i have to try to work out any issues with the seller first

:)))))))))

PayPal is a real one but just in case it's useful for future reference, if you want to get in touch with anyone useful at UPS, you're looking for the OMS at your local "UPS Customer Center" which is not really a customer center, it's a ground hub with a little desk customers are allowed to visit.

there's two main ways to get in touch with the customer center, and they don't make it easy. one way is to call the 800 number and specifically request/insist on being connected to [your nearest customer center as located on google maps]. the other is to go in person with your tracking number in hand. the oms hates the ups customer service call center just like you do, and has access to an exciting array of software and conveyor belts, and personally knows the driver who supposedly handed your package to maurice.

when i was an oms i was able to find the exact location of about 90% of packages when i had the tracking number. i was authorized to hand these packages over to anyone with id that matched the name on the package or on my internal documentation. this is not the main job of an oms, but the plant manager gets bonuses partially based on reducing the number of service failures, so unlike the call center people, they can spend some time on you.

a third way is if you're in good with your ups delivery lady/guy, you might be able to persuade them to give you the specific local number for your local customer center, even though they're not supposed to. maybe you could tell them a friend of yours used to be an oms and recommend that you try to get in touch with one cause they know what they're doing and you really need your package.

idk if it's worth it to you but there's a solid chance you could still get this package if you get in touch with your local customer center. free package!

The Magdeburg Unicorn is an alleged Unicorn fossil that is on display at the Museum of Natural History in Magdeburg Germany. The Magdeburg Unicorn is described as bipedal horse-like fossil with little to no body, a horse-like head, a long tail, and a very long horn on its head. The fossil was first discovered in 1663 in Germany and the people that discovered the fossil thought they found a Unicorn however after the reconstruction, they realized that something seemed off. Later, testing was dine on the fossil and it was determined to be the fossil of a Wooly Rhinoceros and not a Unicorn. The Magdeburg Unicorn has been deemed as one of the worst fossil reconstructions of all time but, it still sparks the imagination that Unicorns and other creatures may exist and be out there.
